Who is a Business Analyst ?

While explaining the term Business analysis , I presented you an example where Mr. Tata, who owns an automobile showroom was confronted with some business challenges . If you skipped the article, you may read it here.

Mr. Premji who works as a Business Analyst in an IT firm comes into picture. He identifies the bottlenecks in the current process and figure out the ways to eliminate them.

Mr. Premji introduced Mr. Tata to his company’s flagship software product with the name SWIFTY that has the capability to solve Mr. Tata’s current issues.

Here Mr. Premji who is a business analyst functions as a bridging element between the business users and technical team.

He conveys the needs of the executives working at TATA automobile showroom to the actual developers of his company’s software product .

On one side he understands the requirements (or business needs) of the client (TATA) and on the other side he interprets the same requirements to his company’s internal development team. Business analyst does not communicate all this merely by holding meetings at both the ends.

A business analyst analyses the requirements he gathers from his clients and document each and everything as a part of business analysis and present it to the project stakeholders for review and approval.

Project stakeholders are the various people who hold importance from a project’s standpoint . They may vary from company to company.

Stakeholders of the project could be considered as the real driving force behind the project . They are from both the sides i.e from the client’s end as well as the company giving solutions to them .

Sometimes your clients might have their own Business users also included in the project apart from their in house technical team . So in that case you could expect multiple stakeholders from the client side.

We will read more about the stakeholders in a separate dedicated article.

There is a special need of many business analysts around the world
